Edwards Gardens was a former Estate garden featuring perennials and roses on the uplands and wildflowers, rhododendrons and an extensive rockery in the valley. Among the formal gardens and brilliant floral displays, there are also rock gardens, a greenhouse, wooden arch bridges, a waterwheel, fountains, and many walking trails. On the upper level of the valley there is an arboretum beside the Children's Teaching Garden.
In 2013, Edwards Gardens also won an Award of Excellence under the Regional Citation (New Directions) category from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects for their sustainably designed parking lot.
Following the example of some botanical gardens, Edwards Gardens put an accent on cheaper landscaping and event hosting instead of living collections, which tend to be neglected. However, most important botanical gardens consider living collections as a major conservation piece and their importance only grows as more and more wild species are threatened by climate change and by habitat loss due to human expansion.
There are various tours, hiking, biking, skeching, garden tours with marjorie mason & paul zammit, and so forth. Everyday, you can enjoy garden shops and buy some seeds to fill your home full of summer fragrance. Don't miss it.
